L’illusion picturale sur des superficies tridimensionnelles crée un espace paysagé où le spectateur peut naviguer entre les objets. Fragments cubiques de matériaux urbains coulent, glissent, s’enfoncent. Le sol se ramollie et ondule dans une mer qui émerge en un paysage minimaliste et inquiétant. Harmonie d’apparences et de simulations surgissent du sol de la galerie. Immobiles vestiges qui, dans leur fausseté inhérente nous rappelle le bord. Une limite que la peinture même surpasse.
A travers le trompe-l’œil sont reproduites différentes textures de matériaux urbains. J’ai, de plus, prolongé les veines du bois du sol et j’ai levé quelques lattes du plancher pour donner une apparence aqueuse en superficies solides.
L’Illusion de Flotter rappelle la fragilité du paysage contemporain, d’apparence poétique et de signification tragique, l’irruption des vagues de la mer rappelle le risque latent. Les ruines cubiques de matériaux urbains sont éparpillées dans l’espace comme des vestiges d’un aplanissement.
